Concussion Management

A woman with a bandaged head appears to be unwell, sitting closely with a person in a knitted sweater, suggesting concern or comfort.

Body In Mind Physio offers concussion management services. People experiencing an acute concussion are encouraged to present as soon as possible for Physiotherapy to ensure the concussion is managed optimally, reducing the risk of persisting post-concussion symptoms. People experiencing chronic symptoms following a concussion >2 weeks after the concussion are also encouraged to present for Physiotherapy. Symptoms persisting >2 weeks could be a sign of post-concussion syndrome and appropriate treatment to the neck, vestibular system and exercise tolerance could be indicated to alleviate the persisting symptoms.

Some common symptoms that acute concussion or post concussion syndrome patients may experience but not limited to are:

  • Dizziness

  • Blurred Vision

  • Difficulty focussing on work, school and previously simple tasks

  • Exercise intolerance

  • Neck Pain, headaches, migraines

  • Nausea

  • Memory loss or retention issues

  • Mood changes

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Balance difficulties

  • Fatigue
